Pencil Pumpkin Drawing

I just finished another class in Botanic Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens  last week.

It was a fun class with Susan Rubin, who does beautiful pencil and color pencil work.

Not only is she a wonderful artist but a gifted teacher as well.

It was an evening class and I was afraid I would fade, or turn into a pumpkin, but I always left feeling energized.  The time went by so fast.

I wanted to take this class before the colored pencil class but the schedule didn’t work out that way.

With graphite pencil, you are able to focus on the values, without color, which is something I want to learn to do better.

So, in my obsession with pumpkins, this was the perfect subject for my drawing.

Enjoyed meeting you last weekend in Golden. We seem to have lots in common.
Your sketches from your botanical garden class are just great! Looks like I could squeeze that juicy tomato. Thanks for sharing the process of getting to a completed drawing. The class sounds like great fun.
